Experienced non-executive chairman and previous UK Senior Partner at Mazars
David’s considerable experience as a business adviser, from his background heading up one of the largest accounting firms in the UK, brings invaluable insight to the partnership table at BKL.
Since joining the firm in 2013 as non-executive chairman, David has been key in facilitating the partnership’s growth plans. As well as his considerable experience, David also brings his quick wit and clear thinking to the process.
Coming to BKL after 25 years at Mazars, David spent the last 10 years there as UK Senior Partner and Chair of the UK Board. As leader of the UK business, he was responsible for its strategic growth and development, during which time it doubled in size. He also had responsibility for developing the firm internationally, as well as the areas of entrepreneurial business and people development.
Corporate financier, turned strategic business adviser
David’s background was originally in corporate finance. Today he advises widely across a range of business issues, supporting corporate clients and the owners behind them. He understands that leading a business can be a lonely place; he can relate to business leaders and the issues they face, as well as to the businesses they run.
Change of direction: moving to BKL
Upon his retirement from Mazars, BKL’s “exceptional people and ambitious plans” piqued David’s interest, and he came on board, bringing his extensive experience both as a business leader and as a business adviser to the team.
David’s particular interest is in helping develop people to achieve their highest potential: “When people are focused on what they enjoy doing, they are also at their most effective.” He focuses on the growth and strategic development of BKL by getting the most out of the firm and its people.
Busy family man and self-confessed “petrolhead”
David is married with four grownup children and seven grandchildren. Family life has always been very important to David, and it continues to take up a lot of his time outside work.
When he’s not busy in his roles as husband, father and grandfather, he keeps fit as a keen mountain biker. He also admits to being an enthusiastic “petrolhead” in his spare time.
