More medium businesses feel forced to sell up

Writing for the UK200Group, BKL tax partner David Whiscombe comments on news that the UK’s medium-sized business owners feel under pressure to sell their companies.

‘I suspect that it may be simpler than that. It takes time to grow a business to be medium-sized: many such businesses will have been established in the flowering of entrepreneurialism unleashed by the Thatcher years and their owners are now reaching retirement age. The more interesting question may be why the current generation lacks the confidence to take the businesses forward.’
