Senior - Audit, Accounts and Corporate Finance

Our Cambridge office has doubled in size over the last two years and continues to grow. The latest role we are recruiting for is a Senior to join our team of experts. We have great momentum: our team is led by a dedicated and passionate team of partners who are driving the firm onwards and upwards. Our market recognition is growing fast and BKL as a firm is developing quickly with it. You’ll get hands on experience with clients who are doing some truly remarkable things.

Your opportunity

This role will contribute to the provision of audit, year-end accounting, taxation compliance and corporate finance services to a wide range of clients, supporting partners and working alongside managers in various departments. You will be motivating and providing on the job training for junior team members.

We work with directors, entrepreneurs, high-growth businesses and high net worth individuals. Sectors we are strongly represented in are property, technology and digital businesses, hospitality and farms & estates.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for candidates who are ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent) and have at least three years of experience in audit & accounts. Experience in corporate finance is not essential, you will be given on the job training. You are a clear communicator with strong commercial skills, an inquisitive mind and are able to develop good working relationships with clients. You are IT literate, ideally with experience of paperless audit and tax software systems, such as Caseware and Alphatax.

Our modern Cambridge office in Royston has an inspiring work environment in a rural location. As the office is not accessible by public transport, you must hold a full driving licence and have the use of a car. During the course of this year, our office will be relocating to Trumpington Enterprise Quarter.

Manager

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven individual, with the confidence and ability to take control of a client portfolio with an emphasis on growing technology and digital businesses. This role will contribute to the provision of audit, year-end accounting, taxation compliance and advisory assignments to a wide range of clients, working within a team of trainees, qualified team members and partners. You will need to have previous experience in managing and mentoring more junior members of staff.

The client base you will be working on is challenging and interesting. As a firm we work with everyone from freelancers and ultra high net worth individuals and trusts to businesses with a turnover of up to £100 million, and families with wealth well beyond that. In the Cambridge office our sectors we are strongly represented in are farms & family estates and technology & digital businesses, both locally and in central London.

Main responsibilities of the role:

  • Directing work on varied portfolios of clients through a team of supervisors, seniors and trainees
  • Managing the client relationships
  • Planning client work with technical competency in mind; ensuring that team members are appropriately matched to clients and that team members are provided with the right level of experience to aid their progression
  • Assisting the heads of department in the firm in implementing departmental budgets, new initiatives and sharing technical knowledge with supervisors, seniors and trainees
  • Active involvement in the firm’s Go To Market strategies and business development activities
  • Taking an active role in the overall development and progression of the firm, yourself and your team

Payroll Assistant

Your opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Assistant to join our busy Payroll team in the Outsourcing department to provide a full range of payroll services to our clients. You will be working with a variety of businesses across a range of sectors, building your own client portfolio under the supervision of experienced team members.

Your role will include:

  • Processing annual, quarterly, monthly and weekly payrolls
  • Processing starters and leavers
  • Preparing payroll to be paid by BACS
  • Issuing payslips and payroll summaries
  • Opening and closing PAYE schemes
  • Process Real Time Information (RTI) submissions to HMRC
  • Processing end of year RTI submissions and issuing of P60s

What we’re looking for

You will not need much practical experience, but you are sure you want to build your career in the payroll profession – we will train you on the job. You will have excellent IT skills and are able to develop good working relationships with colleagues and clients – underpinned by confidence and tactfulness.

Tax Senior and Tax Semi Senior

Your opportunity

You will be completing of all aspects of year-end tax returns, accounts and P11Ds. To accomplish this, you will be communicating with clients and HMRC and advising clients of measures they can take to reduce their tax liability. By joining our team you’ll have work that’s “high-end” (both challenging and fulfilling); clients you will directly engage with, to the point where you are personally making their lives better. You will be reviewing and supervising the work of trainees and assistants.

What we’re looking for

We actively look to work with people who think differently, explore opportunities, have the right technical capabilities and most importantly have the integrity needed to build trusted relationships. You will be ATT qualified or studying towards and are willing to continue with gaining your CTA qualification. You have strong technical experience and are able to provide guidance to more junior tax team members.
