Accountants Get Into Scottish Spirit
Clients and friends of Finchley-based accountants Berg Kaprow Lewis (BKL) got to don their kilts and sporrans and sample the finest whisky and haggis North London had to offer at the firm's annual Burns Night celebration, which took place on Thursday, 4 February 2010.
As ever, the tax return deadline of January 31 meant the team from BKL had to delay their celebrations a little, but everyone who took part agreed it was worth the wait, with around 65 people turning up to enjoy the festivities.
The event, at North Middlesex Golf Club, began in style with internationally-renowned piper Jim Mackay welcoming the guests, before proceedings kicked off with a fun quiz and champagne reception.
Human Resources partner Marjorie Hurwitz Bremner said the traditional Selkirk Grace before senior tax consultant David Young, resplendent in his Black Watch kilt gave an incomparable address to the haggis. Tax partner David Whiscombe organised the whisky-tasting.
Marjorie said: "This is the fourth time we've held our Burns Night celebration. Burns Night is usually celebrated on 25 January and we're always a little late as January is one of our busiest months with tax returns.
"We've had fabulous feedback and it was a great chance for people to really enjoy themselves and gets to know each other a little better. Quite a few of our guests were eating haggis for the first time, although some of them would only try the vegetarian version!
